Hampshire Wedding Band For Hire

Hampshire wedding band Mister Kanish are based in the south east of the UK and available to travel throughout. We're ideally located to provide entertainment for weddings and parties in Dorset, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire and Oxford. We've been hired to fill dance floors at hundreds of weddings and events all over the world and have been together with the same line-up for over a decade since meeting at Southampton University in 2004.

We were the UK's first Mumford and Sons style wedding band and offer this and a more standard rock, and pop style where we cover the likes of 90s dance, UK garage, classic and indie rock, party anthems, and a smattering of funk and soul. We really love to make all arrangements our own - you won't find a band that sounds anything like us anywhere.

Party Band and Wedding Entertainment FAQ

We've been offering wedding entertainment throughout Hampshire and the UK for the last fourteen years. We know that you've likely never booked a band let alone a wedding band so we understand there are a few things you need to know before you can hire us. Here are some of the frequently asked questions we receive from brides and grooms.

How long does it take for you to set-up? Will it disturb our guests?

On average we take between 1 and 1.5 hours to be fully set-up. Our electric guitar set-up is the quickest coming in at just under an hour. If you book both Mumford and Sons and the electric guitar set up it can be closer to an hour and a half. We've set up in festival fields, posh wedding venues, marquees in back gardens, barns, hotels - we have years of experience. We've found more often than not we can arrive roughly 2 hours before our first set and be ready and set up in time for your first dance without any problems - even if speeches or the wedding breakfast are going on during this time. Our set-up is quiet up until the end where we need roughly a twenty minute sound check. We don't make a habit of shredding distasteful guitar solos while the father of the bride is trying to get through his speech - don't worry! We've found it can be quite a good ice breaker for your guests watching the band set-up - we've even on more than one occasion filled the dance floor during our sound check. (which is slightly embarrassing since we play one chorus of the same song several times).

That said sometimes we need to come a little earlier and are more than happy to do so - just let us know. Please bear in mind when hiring a function band for your big day that they will need some time to set-up and will need to make some gig level noise to make sure everything is perfect for the reception.

Do we need to hire a wedding DJ or lights or anything?

When you book Mister Kanish to perform at your wedding or party you don't need to think about anything else when it comes to wedding entertainment. We provide everything. We have our own fully self contained sound equipment, and basic stage lighting which is great for up to around 200 guests.

We also provide a Spotify playlist for between sets so you don't need to worry about hiring an additional DJ. We cover everything. If you book us for the daytime slot we can provide background music from our PA for the whole day and you can also use our microphones for speeches.

Do you play any public gigs in Hampshire where we can come and see you?

When we started performing together we started in pubs and clubs around Southampton and Portsmouth playing our own music. Unfortunately we don't get much time to anymore. As our summer's are rammed with weddings and our winters with corporate functions we don't get to play publicly as often as we like. We have played a few large events such as Oktoberfests and British Summertime but these are predominantly in London.

Most of our clients find that because we have such a wealth of positive testimonials and live video that's enough. Please ask when you get in touch as sometimes public gigs do come up. We also try to play at least one charity booking a year if our calendar allows which are often open to the public.

Our wedding venue has a sound limiter? Can you handle it and will this effect the performance?

We regularly play parties where the venue has a sound limiter or a volume limit. Two of our favourite Hampshire based wedding venues have them - The Tithe Barn in Petersfield and Clock Barn near Winchester. We've never had any problems with either. We regularly play with an electric drum kit which sounds amazing and gives us absolute control over the level of the music. The quietest sound limiter we've played at is 85db. Anything below that may be tricky but most venues average around 92-95db if they have one at all. Give us a shout if you are worried about your venue's requirements - chances are we'll be able to work within them.

Absolutely phenomenal!!! I’m so so so happy we had them - the repertoire was incredible, they really made the wedding. By far the best wedding band we have heard, would definitely recommend them. Their set included everything from Bruce Springsteen and The Killers to Faithless and Backstreet Boys - couldn’t get off the dance floor. Nothing but fabulous feedback from our guests - Alison - Married August 2019
