Mumford and Sons wedding band

Mumford and Sons Wedding Band

Mumford and Sons wedding band Mister Kanish started the festival band craze way back in 2013 when we decided the event industry was missing something a little different. We thought why not put together a band that play super upbeat folky cover versions of all the songs we'd been playing at weddings and events. So we cracked out the violin, double bass and acoustic guitars and crafted our own style. You won't hear music like this anywhere else. We play Britney Spears, UK garage, pop, rock, hip hop all in our own vintage style. And people seem to enjoy it!!

One of our folky cover versions saw us voted #1 Covers Band in the world, by the people of France on a TV show showed watched by over a million people.

Check out our folky style

  • 5 star review  Mister Kanish played at our wedding in 2015 and they were INCREDIBLE. People still comment on how great they were. The dancefloor was full all night and they created such a brilliant atmosphere. They are also top guys, good fun and super easy to deal with during the booking process.

  • 5 star review  I can not recommend this band highly enough! The most professional fun group of guys you will ever meet! Nothing was too much trouble for them to insure George and Bridget had the best wedding party that they had hoped for. Words can not convey how I feel, Thank you so much

  • 5 star review  A bit of a belated review (our wedding was last October), but what can we possibly say. You guys blew our minds once again with your set, and your rendition of Party Hard for our first dance was absolutely perfect. Thanks again for being part of our day, and giving all our guests the time of their lives for the evening. If anyone is reading this and still questioning whether to hire these guys, what are you doing?! Just book already!!

  • 5 star review  Dear Ollie, and all the MK boys! From the bottom of our hearts Sally and I (Merriscourt, Sept 30th, 2017), would like to say an incredible thank you for helping to make our wedding day so special. We'd be lying if we didn't say that we had high expectations - having watched 'all' your videos online! - but you truly blew us away. You guys are good for every five star review and I'm not embarrassed to admit I was even a little star-struck! Parklife and the Calvin Harris songs we asked for we're an absolute highlight, but nothing could top the finale of multiple encores finishing with Oasis' 'Don't Look Back In Anger', with all our guests circling us and coming in at the end. Possibly the highlight of the entire evening! To any soon-to-be married couples out there looking for a band, then look no further. The lads were friendly, professional, were easy to deal with, sounded incredible, and had everyone talking about them the following day. We genuinely couldn't have asked for more... Sally and I always said how much we wanted the dance-floor filled all night, it was one of our big hopes for the day, and MK made this happen. We hope you had a good time too and, once again, thanks so much. All the best. Ben and Sally McGrath

  • positive review  Having seen Mister Kanish perform at our friends wedding last summer they were the very first thing we booked when we became engaged. The venue, caterers, photographers etc were all secondary to making sure we had booked the band, they really are that good! At our wedding they were once again exceptional. They had the whole place jumping from the first set to the last, the young and old alike. We received so many compliments regarding the band on the night and in the days that followed. Many saying that they were the best band they’d ever seen! We couldn’t have been happier with their attitude, professionalism and performance. We are really hoping that some of our friends book Mister Kanish for their weddings so that we can see them again. If you are looking for a wedding band who will round off your special day perfectly, look no further. You will not be disappointed!

  • 5 star review  Honestly we couldn't recommend Mister Kanish enough, they played at our wedding in September 2016 and kept the dance floor full from start to finish - they even gave in to the demands of an encore from our guests! So professional to deal with ahead of the wedding, and very accommodating to the needs of our venue (even bringing electric drums). Learnt our first dance amazingly well and were lovely when we changed our mind about the song a few weeks before the wedding. We only wish we had another occasion to book them for!! Thanks guys 🙂

  • 5 star review  Oh my god....we are so rubbish....its taken us too long to write this review. We are very lucky to call the handsome lead singer of this band a good friend of ours and we couldn't have dreamed of having anyone else play at our wedding...luckily the band he is in is flipping fantastic too! Mr Kanish absolutely made our wedding reception. There was never a point when the dance floor wasn't full to the brim and our guests were blown away...we had loads specifically contact us after to ask for their name to spread the word. I literally cannot recommend this band enough. Guys, you absolutely smashed it and the 'oldies' generation moshing out to 'killing in the name of' is somerhing that we will never forget. HIRE THIS BAND!!! Love Guy and Rach X x

  • 5 star review  Where to start! The friendliest group of guys you could ever wish to meet and so incredibly professional during the run up to our wedding and, of course, on the day itself. They're very quick to respond to any questions beforehand (which is very reassuring for a nervous bride!) and are very accommodating when it comes to requests. They really are the best band out there and I would encourage anyone thinking of hiring Mister Kanish to just do it, you will not regret it!

    Folk Style FAQ

Here are a list of questions we are asked frequently by clients who are interested in our Mumford and Sons style.

Our wedding venue has a sound limiter - can you cope?

We regularly play wedding venues with sound restrictions. Our folky style is perfect for this as we don't require loud amplifiers to get that acoustic sound across. We also regularly use a state of the art electric drum kit which means we can be as loud or as quiet as is needed and have full control over the sound. Some venues we've played with sound limitations include Cain Manor in Surrey, The Tithe Barn in Petersfield, and Cripps Barn in Gloucestershire. I'd say the lowest limit we can realistically do is around 85db, but please ask us if you are unsure. We have also, on occasion, performed fully acoustically, but don't recommend this as it's often tricky to be heard over a crowd.

What songs from your repertoire can you play in the Mumford and Sons style?

We can play around 90% of our songs in the repertoire on the acoustic instruments. Some of the heavier stuff is a little tricky but we've adapted folky versions for some that you might not expect including the garage medley, thong song, and Mr Brightside.

I'm worried that the folky style isn't upbeat enough for our wedding - will people dance?

Absolutely yes. We engineered the sound based on super upbeat folk bands like Mumford and Sons, The Gypsy Kings, and Crystal Fighters with the aim for it to be as pumping as possible. The arrangements we have created are as upbeat as can be and more often than not guests hit the dance floor immediately and stay there from start to finish.

If we have a special request or first dance can you folk it up?

We've arranged a lot of special requests for brides and grooms over the years. You can see a fair few of these rehearsed on our youtube or instagram. Tracks have included Stacey's Mom, Eye of The Tiger, You Are The Best Thing and more.

There are more wedding specific questions on our wedding page.

    Why book us?

    Over 14 Years Of Experience

Mister Kanish formed in 2006 and we have been playing together every year since. We play over 50 weddings or events a year. We know your event is probably going to be a one off, and we want to make it amazing. We are a band who has worked in every situation, and solved every problem possible.

    Perfect for a wedding
Our Mumford and Sons style folk covers are perfect for a wedding. We can start the night with an upbeat knees-up then finish with rocking tunes just like a main stage support and headliner at any festival. The combination of acoustic guitars and double bass also compliment first dances perfectly as well as a summer afternoon spent on the lawn with cocktails for your drinks reception.
    Versatility
We offer Classic Kanish, our Mumford and Sons style wedding band, featuring double bass, mandolin, violin, banjo and acoustic guitars - as well as Mister Kanish, our regular rock and pop setup. Frequently we perform at events using both styles - these are always the best gigs. To take it to the next level we can add a 3 piece horn section and additional male and female vocals too.
    Communication
When you contact Mister Kanish, you’ll be contacting us directly. There is no agent or middle man. Most likely it will be Chris, our bass player, otherwise Ollie or Andy. Check out our individual pages to put a friendly face to a name. We will be on hand to answer your questions, and concerns throughout the wedding, or event planning stages. We're always happy to give advice on how to make your event the best it can be and have also written a book to help with your wedding planning.
    Testimonials
Don’t just take our word for it - check out our testimonials page and Facebook reviews all from genuine happy brides, grooms and clients. People don’t say we are a good band, or even a great band - they say we are “THE BEST BAND EVER” (“Best band I’ve ever seen… and I’ve been to Glastonbury” - that’s a direct quote.)
    Voted Worlds Best Cover Band
A few years ago we played a TV show in France where they were looking for the world's best cover band. We came up against Russians, Germans, Americans, The French, and more and came in top. Over a million people watched and voted. See the video of our final performance here - Mister Kanish - Happy - if you don't recognise our singer Ben, that's because after this video he went on to lose over 17 stone!!
